FUN FACTS
Pistachio pastries are a Brontese confectionery invention—and not even that old. In fact, they originated in the 1970s as a variation on almond pastries, centuries-old sweets that had been the most popular until then. During a live broadcast on the regional television station Teletna, pastry chef Nino demonstrated the recipe for pistachio pastries in the kitchen of his café; it was the first time this new version had been shown to the general public. That was perhaps the first true culinary creation featuring Bronte pistachios, which until then had been sold simply as dried fruit and used only marginally in pastry-making.
